What is the difference between a water and an oil temperature controller?

Accepted Answer

Water temperature controllers operate up to ~120°C (pressurized up to 180°C) and are more economical. Thermal oil temperature controllers reach up to 250°C, being necessary for high-temperature processes such as rubber molding, vulcanization, and chemical reactions.

Which temperature controller to use for a plastic injection machine?

For plastic injection machines, we recommend water temperature controllers from 6 to 24 kW, depending on the mold size. The typical temperature ranges from 40°C to 120°C depending on the polymer being processed. For large molds or multiple zones, consider higher power temperature controllers or multiple units.

How to size a temperature controller?

Accepted Answer

Sizing considers: mass of the mold/equipment, desired temperature, heating time, thermal losses, and process cycle. Rule of thumb: 1 kW for every 10-15 kg of steel to be heated in 30 minutes. Our engineering department performs the precise calculation for free.

Temperature controller or chiller: what's the difference?

Accepted Answer

Temperature controllers control temperature (they heat AND cool) with high precision, ideal for molds and processes. Chillers only cool, providing chilled water to multiple consumption points. Use a temperature controller when you need precise control per zone; use a chiller for general cooling.

What is the lifespan of an industrial temperature controller?

With proper maintenance, Helioterm temperature controllers last 15-20 years. Electric heating elements have a lifespan of 3-5 years depending on use. Quality pumps last 8-10 years. We offer spare parts and preventive maintenance contracts.

Can the temperature controller work with negative temperatures?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our temperature controllers can operate down to -20°C using a glycol solution as the fluid. This configuration is used in processes that require rapid cooling or temperatures below ambient, such as molding certain polymers or pharmaceutical processes.
